This city has a few secrets too - some rather wonderful architecture dating back to Victorian and Edwardian times. Manchester Art Gallery designed by Charles Barry and built in 1835 has some great exhibitions. A city with a strong musical culture producing bands such as the Happy Mondays and Oasis has a fabulous night life - famous for its Hacienda Night Club and some great pubs, clubs and places to socialise.

Manchester Cathedral which dates back to medieval times is worth visiting and there are some lovely gardens there too.

Plenty to do if you have the time, but safe in the knowledge you will be comfortable before you jet off on your holiday.
