It is hard to think of another word in the English language, or any other language, that conjures images of opulence, style and sophistication quite like the 'Ritz'. The brain child of renown hotelier Cesar Ritz it was opened in 1906 and it has been unsurpassed for sheer luxury, sophistication and service for a hundred years.
Returned to private ownership in 1995, this unique establishment has been lovingly and sympathetically restored in great detail, even using the original design, Lois XVI fabrics and renovated period furniture to make sure that the ambiance and atmosphere of this magnificent building is exactly right; a reminder of a time when the comfort of the guest was the only concern of the manager and staff.
One of the most quintessentially British institutions since the 1920s is taking 'tea at the Ritz'. Traditional English tea, a range of delicately cut sandwiches and freshly baked scones, with jam and clotted cream, are served in the exquisite Palm Court, which is superbly decorated in a French style and the absolute height of sophistication. There are five sessions for tea throughout the day and they are so popular that it is recommended that you book at least six weeks ahead.
We have 133 spacious rooms that are individually designed, richly decorated and superbly comfortable. The opulence of the decoration, all rooms are in one of the four 'Ritz' colour schemes, with the finest fabrics and real 24 carat gold fittings, will take you back to a time when elegance, sophistication, were the order of the day and with a ratio of two staff to every one room, you can be certain that you will receive the very best in attentive, but discrete service from our experienced and friendly staff. If you real want to know the most interesting places to visit, book tickets, hire a car or book a table at a restaurant, ask the concierge or porter as they keep up to date with the very latest deals and attractions.
We have a choice of dinning venues, each of them offering the finest in dinning experiences, with superb decor and a relaxed friendly atmosphere in which to enjoy the very best in traditional British and international cuisine, all freshly prepared by our chef and served to your table by our experienced staff. Select a fine wine or ask the waiter who will be happy to recommend the perfect accompaniment for your meal from our cellar.
We have a range of banqueting and function suites that are ideal to hold your wedding reception or private party. With menus that can be tailored to suit your requirements and staff who have gained valuable experience in organising similar events, we can ensure that all the details that make the perfect day are attended to - leaving you with nothing to do but enjoy your big day.
Our function rooms can also host your conference or corporate event, and with a dedicated team to assist in the organisation, you can relax and let your event be the success you deserve.
