This restored Victorian pub on the corner of Earls Court Road and Pembroke Road is a perfect example of how a gastro-pub should be done. it.

It's kept the homely touch, courtesy of the glowing open fire and the equally warm service, while the chilled-out music and North African lounge area add a somewhat exotic feel. Many of the original 19th-century fittings have been retained..

Gas lanterns (now with bulbs), which compliment the subtle spotlighting on the ceiling and add to the general cosiness of the place. All this disparate decor melds together better than you'd imagine, and it's clearly a hit with the locals judging by the first-name basis they're on with the bar staff.
