The Blackbird - Earls Court London Pubs

Located just round the corner from Earl's Court tube station, the Blackbird is the most convenient stop for anyone making a flying visit to the district. it.

Painted jet black on the exterior, to match its name, it's easy to spot and has somewhat of a Gothic look to its facade. Inside the theme is continued with dark walls and low lighting.

Like many of the Fullers Ale and Pie Houses, the Blackbird used to be a bank, although with its numerous antique embellishments and fine wooden panelling you'd be forgiven for thinking it had been this way since Victorian times.

The fare is also very traditional, with pies and pints the orders of the day and night. There's the full range of Fuller's often-exotic ales, a respectable meal and snack menu with good vegetarian dishes as well. It is all salubrious, hearty stuff that'll fill you up for hours afterwards.

Due to its welcoming atmosphere, the pub is a favourite with travelling football fans when their team plays at Stamford Bridge, a fifteen-minute walk from here. If you're not one of them, you can always watch the game (or any other) from the pub itself, with Sky Sports showing on its two screens. Outside seating on both the pavement and in the beer garden is available when the weather permits

Jeanette Bishop was on a tour of europe and sent us in what she thought of the food.

"The Best Fish Pie I have ever tasted, I really want the recipe.

I actually rate it as the best meal I had over my entire 4 wk trip."
