Good stuff: Good location, good service, friendly and helpful staff
Bad stuff: small bathroom, old facilities, not always in best working order, tv reception poor, no teamaking facilities in room
Overall: Overall and given the price it's been a satisfactory experience. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The location is great. The breakfast is by far the best I have ever had in a B&B in London. Lots of fresh fruits, pastries, biscuits etc. all you can eat. The staff don't stop serving you and keep piling more and more on your plate. On the downside, I would point to the small and very basic rooms. TV reception in my room was very poor + no teamaking facilities in the rooms (apparently due to fire regulations????). However, I suppose that for this price it is not a bad deal. In my opinion it's good value for money.

Good stuff: Staff was very amiable.
Bad stuff: Fix the slamming fire doors.
Overall: The St. Simeon provided a very homey and welcoming atmosphere; the staff seemed eager to please. Our room was somewhat shabby (worn matress, nonworking TV, broken closet door) but clean; the en-suite bathroom had been newly renovated but the shower was already broken. Breakfast was plentiful (eggs cooked to perfection!) although very basic (i.e. cheapest brand of instant coffee; orange juice little more than colored water).
Guests should be wary of attempts to bait and switch rooms. The cheaper room we had booked was not available when we arrived (the previous guest had supposedly not yet checked out) and we got talked into a higher-rate room. To cover themselves with your booking service, the staff had us pay the booked rate by credit card and the difference in cash. While we had admittedly arrived slightly before check-in time, we are suspicious of their claim of nonavailability because a staff member had already tried to convince us to upgrade our room when we had called ahead from the States to confirm our reservation.
As we were checking out, the owner/manager was on the phone ordering new beds and there were many workmen in the building, so it is probably fair to assume that some of the problems I mentioned are being addressed. All in all, given the high price of lodging in London and given the exellent location of the St. Simeon, we'd consider staying there again.

Good stuff: The location and ground floor appearance of the hotel. All of the staff was accommodating and understanding.
Bad stuff: New, even if inexpensive bedding and curtains should be purchased. Current blankets are covered with hair and holes. Handles on doors are also very much in need, as it is, room door is very difficult to open. Bread and fruits for breakfast should be much fresher.
Overall: I advise anyone who is a first time guest to see their room before paying the full reservation upfront, as the staff asks.
I did not expect anything first class from this hotel due to the price, however a basic standard should be maintained, after all it is not that much of a saving and if you have extra 5-10 pounds per night I suggest you spend it for a better experience.

Good stuff: Suited purpose and budget, staff extremely helpful and friendly, breakfast and en-suite bathroom both excellent
Bad stuff: 'Well-worn' in places, cleanliness not so good apart from bathroom.
Overall: Suited our purpose and budget, and excellent location for a conference along the road at the Gloucester Millenium Conference Centre, also an easy tube ride or two from the very centre of London. Photos of rooms, bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and breakfasts on the website would be helpful for knowing what to expect. Pleasantly surprised in a number of ways - staff friendliness and helpfulness, breakfasts, en-suite bathroom (shower, loo, sink),including cleanliness, decent, clean towels and bed-linen, comfort of bed and suitability of hotel for our needs. Would probably use again, only doubt is over cleanliness in some areas - net curtains, floor, kitchen and bed itself possibly - wondering whether we have been bitten (a number of times) by something in the room or bed (could also have been from theatre seats, for example).
